A universal pair list can tell you that a result exists without telling you whether you can reach it. This calculator starts from the species you marked as owned. The Make results then distinguish Pals already owned, direct one-generation outcomes, and multistep outcomes, with generation and recipe-operation counts shown before you commit to a build.

Search by name or Paldex number, limit maximum generations, filter by work suitability, or show only species not already in the roster. These controls narrow the displayed results; they do not rewrite the breeding graph. Clearing them restores the broader reachable set without resetting the compact species roster or selected planning mode.

  1. Enter dependable parents

    Select each species you own once in Roster. Add a specific trait carrier later only when Start to target or Full custom needs it.

  2. Select the calculator mode

    Use Quickest path for the fewest sequential breeding generations found from the roster, or Start to target when a named owned Pal must stay in the ancestry.

  3. Open and inspect the result

    Choose a target card, compare its generation depth with the operations in that displayed route, and review the resulting tree before starting in-game breeding.

Use Quickest path and Start to target correctly

Quickest path is useful when the target species matters more than a particular ancestor. The reachability pass considers combinations unlocked by the current roster and supplies the fewest-generation witness route found by its bounded search for the chosen result. Start to target uses the same roster boundary but requires the selected starting species to contribute to the route, which is helpful for preserving access to a valuable parent line.

Quickest path intentionally ignores passives. Start to target accepts the traits already together on one Pal. Full custom is the better entry when traits are split across several carriers and must be consolidated.

Worked example: choose effort, then quality

Suppose your roster shows a target as reachable in two generations and another strong worker as reachable directly. If the role filter gives the direct option a lower compiled rank, the calculator keeps role quality visible instead of declaring the closer Pal universally better. You can choose the highly ranked target when its extra breeding round is justified, or take the direct result for a faster early-base upgrade.

  • Generation count measures depth in the route; breeding operations count the recipes in the displayed witness. A same-depth alternate ancestry can use a different operation total.
  • A role label with no compiled ranking is shown honestly rather than receiving an invented score.
  • The New only filter removes species already recorded in the roster but does not imply that every remaining result is strategically valuable.

Calculator limits and update boundaries

Results are based on the verified combinations in the bundled data revision, not a live query to the game. A legal route can still require an awkward sex checkpoint or an intermediate species you do not currently have. The detailed route calls out those requirements and can search again after you mark a proposed input unavailable for that plan.

The calculator does not estimate incubation time, ranch output, cake cost, capture difficulty, passive inheritance chance, or the number of eggs a real attempt will take. The fewest-generation graph route found is therefore a planning baseline, not a guarantee of globally minimum generations after a capped search, minimum operations, or minimum play time. Always compare its assumptions with your world settings and current game patch.

Why is a Pal missing from calculator results?

It may be unreachable from the currently selected renewable roster, excluded by name, work, generation, or New only filters, or absent from the pinned canonical data. Clear filters first, then confirm the needed starting species are marked accessible.

What is the difference between generations and operations?

Generations describe the deepest parent-to-child chain. Operations count the recipes in the displayed combined route, so two branches bred in parallel can add operations without adding the same amount of depth. The operation count is not a claim that every same-depth ancestry was globally minimized.

Can the calculator force one starting Pal into the route?

Yes. Choose Start to target and select an owned starting species. The route search then keeps that start in the ancestry instead of selecting a route only by the lowest generation depth found.
